Starrs Reach Rosé Sangria

  • 1 Bottle of Starrs Reach Vineyard Rosé
  • 1/2 cup 23rd St Distillery Signature Gin
  • 2 Riverland Cara Cara Navels (pink fleshed)
  • 2 Riverland Limes or Lemons
  • 1 Punnet of Strawberries
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 6-8 leaves fresh mint about 2 sprigs
  • Sparkling water optional

This gets better as it sits, so there's no reason not to make it well ahead of time—just wait to add the sparkling water right before serving. Makes approximately 6 drinks.

1.                   Slice the Strawberries and one of the Cara Cara Navels and place in a large jug.

2.                   Next add the juice of the Limes or Lemons, the sugar and the Gin. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

3.                   Let the mixture sit about 1 hour if you can. This sitting time lets the alcohol pull flavour from the fruit . The longer the better but no longer than 4 hours.

4.                   Pour in a bottle of Starrs Reach Vineyard Rosé.

5.                   Now thinly slice the last Cara Cara Navel, and add slices to the jug.

6.                   Roll the mint leaves in your hands to release their fragrance. Stack them and use a sharp knife to cut them into thin strips; add the mint to the pitcher.

7.                   Pour into glasses full of ice and ENJOY. How good is that!!

8.                   For a lighter drink, use half sangria and half sparkling water.
